Call for Proposals/Participation: CATK 제 8차 연례학술대회 초록모집 공고

The 8th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Teachers of Korean (CATK) will be held on August 11 (Tue) and 12 (Wed), 2026, at the University of Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada.

The theme of this year’s conference is " Cultural and Historical Dimensions in Korean Language Education." We believe that language instruction is inseparable from the study of culture and history of the target culture. Furthermore, integrating these elements serves as a vital catalyst for stimulating learner interest and facilitating advanced-level proficiency. While recent academic discourse has leaned heavily toward the use of Artificial Intelligence and the digitalization of instructional materials, we aim to refocus on this recently overlooked, yet essential, area of inquiry. We anticipate that this theme will inspire meaningful dialogue among
educators.

We welcome proposals for research papers and teaching case studies directly related to this year's theme, as well as presentations on a wide range of topics within Korean language
education, including educational research, instructional materials, and pedagogical practices. The conference will be conducted in a dual mode (in-person and online).
Those interested in presenting at the conference are invited to submit their proposals by June 24 (Wed), 2026. We look forward to the active participation of researchers, instructors, and graduate students dedicated to the field of Korean language education.

1. Presentation Types (20-minute presentation + 10-minute Q&A)
(1) Research Paper: Academic presentations on Korean language and Korean studies education, including research objectives, data collection, analysis, and discussion of results
(2) Teaching Materials Exchange: Practical presentations on teaching methods, classroom activities, and material development
(3) Workshop: Practical, hands-on sessions related to the conference theme, aimed at teacher training and professional development

2. Proposal Submission Guidelines
(1) Proposals may only be submitted by CATK members
– Free membership available: Visit catk.ca → My Account → Change/Signup Membership → Select “Free Membership”
(2) Length: Up to 500 words (in English or Korean, including references )
(3) Submission: Log in to catk.ca, click the [Abstract] tab on the top right, then click [+ Submit Abstract] and complete the form or upload a file
(4) Accepted formats: Type directly into the form, or upload a PDF or MS Word document
(5) Proposal Deadline: Wednesday, June 24, 2026
(6) Notification of Acceptance: Wednesday, July 1, 2026 (via individual email)

2026 년 제 8 회 캐나다 한국어 교육학회(CATK) 연례 학술대회가 오는 8 월 11 일 (화)과 12 일(수) 양일에 걸쳐 캐나다 매니토바 주의 위니펙 대학교(University of Winnipeg)에서 개최됩니다.

올해 학술대회의 주제는 한국어 교실에서의 문화와 역사교육입니다. 한국어 교실에서 언어를 가르치는 것은 한국 문화와 역사와 떼어놓을 수 없을 뿐만 아니라, 학습자들이 언어를 더욱 흥미롭고 높은 수준까지 학습할 수 있도록 이끌어 주는 도구가 될 것입니다. 최근의 연구와 발표들이 인공지능의 활용이나 수업자료의 디지털화에 편중됨에 따라 최근 다소 소외되었지만 논의할 가치가 있는 본 주제에 대해 선생님들의 많은 관심이 있을 것으로 생각합니다. 주제와 직접적으로 관련된 연구 및 교육 사례 발표 뿐만 아니라, 그 외 한국어 교육 전반에 걸친 다양한 연구, 수업 자료, 사례 발표도 환영합니다. 발표는 대면 및 비대면(온라인) 듀얼 모드로 진행될 예정입니다. 현장 또는 온라인 참가 등록에 대한 자세한 안내는 추후 공지해 드리겠습니다. 학술대회에서 발표를 원하시는 분들께서는 6 월 24 일(수)까지 발표 초록을 제출해 주시기 바랍니다. 한국어 교육에 관심 있는 연구자, 교사, 대학원생 여러분의 적극적인 참여를 부탁드립니다.

1. 발표 유형 (발표 20 분 + 질의응답 10 분)
(1) 연구 논문: 한국어 및 한국학 학습·교육 관련 학술 연구 발표 (연구 동기, 데이터 수집, 분석 및 결과 토론 포함 필수)
(2) 교수 자료 교환: 교수법, 수업 사례, 교재 개발 등 실용적 자료 공유
(3) 워크숍: 올해 학회 주제와 관련된 교사 교육 및 재교육 중심 워크숍

2. 초록 제출 지침
(1) 발표 신청(초록 제출)은 CATK 회원에 한함
