(The Evolving Role and Professional Development of Korean Language Teachers in the AI Era)

2025년 제7회 캐나다 한국어 교육학회(CATK) 연례 학술대회가 오는 8월 12일(화), 캐나다 중서부를 대표하는 도시 에드먼턴의 위치한 University of Alberta에서 개최됩니다.

올해 학술대회의 주제는 인공지능(AI) 시대를 맞아 변화하는 한국어 교사의 역할과 전문성 개발입니다. 이에 따라 관련된 연구 및 교육 사례 발표를 모집합니다. 주제와 직접적으로 관련된 발표 뿐만 아니라, 한국어 교육 전반에 걸친 다양한 연구, 수업 자료, 사례 발표도 환영합니다. 발표는 대면 및 비대면(온라인) 듀얼 모드로 진행될 예정입니다. 현장 또는 온라인 참가 등록에 대한 자세한 안내는 추후 공지해 드리겠습니다. 학술대회에서 발표를 원하시는 분들께서는 6월 30일(월)까지 발표 초록을 제출해 주시기 바랍니다. 한국어 교육에 관심 있는 연구자, 교사, 대학원생 여러분의 적극적인 참여를 부탁드립니다.

  1. 발표유형 (발표 20분 + 질의응답 10분)
    (1) 연구 논문: 한국어 및 한국학 학습·교육 관련 학술 연구 발표 (연구 동기, 데이터 수집, 분석 및 결과 토론 포함 필수)
    (2) 교수 자료 교환: 교수법, 수업 사례, 교재 개발 등 실용적 자료 공유
    (3) 워크숍: 올해 학회 주제와 관련된 교사 교육 및 재교육 중심 워크숍
  2. 초록제출 지침
    (1) 발표 신청(초록 제출)은 CATK 회원에 한함
    – 무료 회원가입: catk.ca → My Account → Change/Signup Membership에서 Free Membership 선택
    (2) 초록 길이:최대 500 단어 (영어 또는 한국어, 참고 문헌 포함)
    (3) 제출 방법: catk.ca에 로그인 후 우측 상단 [Abstract] 탭 → [+초록 제출] 버튼 클릭 → 양식 작성 또는 파일 업로드
    (4) 파일 형식: 사이트 양식 직접 입력 또는 PDF / MS Word 파일 업로드
    (5) 초록 마감: 2025년 6월 30일(월)
    (6) 초록 채택 여부 개별 통보: 2025년 7월 4일(금)

Call for Proposals: 7th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Teachers of Korean (CATK)

Theme: The Evolving Role and Professional Development of Korean Language Teachers in the AI Era

The 7th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Teachers of Korean (CATK) will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, one of the major cities in Western Canada.

This year’s theme focuses on the evolving role of Korean language teachers and their professional development in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). We invite proposals for presentations that explore this theme through research or teaching practices.

In addition to theme-related topics, we also welcome presentations in broader areas of Korean language education, including classroom practice, instructional materials, and curriculum design. Presentations may be conducted in either an in-person or online format (dual mode).

If you are interested in presenting, please submit your proposal by the deadline, Monday, June 30, 2025. We encourage active participation from researchers, instructors, and graduate students involved in Korean language education. Details regarding registration for on-site and online participation will be announced at a later date.

  1. Presentation Types (20-minute presentation + 10-minute Q&A)
    (1) Research Paper: Academic presentations on Korean language and Korean studies education, including research objectives, data collection, analysis, and discussion of results
    (2) Teaching Materials Exchange: Practical presentations on teaching methods, classroom activities, and material development
    (3) Workshop: Practical, hands-on sessions related to the conference theme, aimed at teacher training and professional development
  2. Proposal Submission Guidelines
    (1) Proposals may only be submitted byCATKmembers
    – Free membership available: Visit catk.ca → My Account → Change/Signup Membership → Select “Free Membership”
    (2) Length: Up to 500 words (in English or Korean, including references )
    (3) Submission: Log in to catk.ca, click the [Abstract] tab on the top right, then click [+ Submit Abstract] and complete the form or upload a file
    (4) Accepted formats: Type directly into the form, or upload a PDF or MS Word document
    (5) Proposal Deadline: Monday, June 30, 2025
    (6) Notification of Acceptance: Friday, July 4, 2025 (via individual email)
